Large-scale attack uses browsers to hijack routers

After reading the router hijack article on ComputerWorld I realized that I had this problem weeks ago and fixed it.

To check if you have been infected, do the following:
1. Open cnn.com and click anywhere, if an advertisement page opens, this means there is a problem.
2. Try to access the router and the modem, if you cannot, it means there is a problem.

To prevent being hijacked the following should be done:
1. Update the router’s and the modem’s firmware (Check on the manufacturer’s website for new firmware updates)
2. Update the following softwares on all computers on the network:
– Flash player
– Adobe acrobat reader
– Java
– Silverlight if installed
And other popular software.
